IFUSCO 2007 INFORMATION LETTER No 1The XXIII International Scientific Conference of Finno-Ugric Students (IFUSCO) will be held in Saransk, May 15 - 19, 2007 as a follow on of the decision made at the XXII conference in Yoshkar-Ola. The principle organizers of the conference are: the Government of the Republic of Mordovia, the Mordovia State University, Russian public movement "Associa-tion of Finno-Ugric Nations of the Russian Federation" (RPM "AFUN RF"), Youth Association of Finno-Ugric Peoples (YAFUP/MAFUN). To participate in the conference undergraduate, graduate, postgraduate students interested in Finno-Ugric studies are invited. The forum's programme comprises plenary speeches, sections' sessions, excursions, visiting of museums, exhibitions, a Erzya and Moksha villages, meetings with the communities. The following sections are offered: 1. Problems of Finno-Ugric linguistics; 2. Folklore and literary criticism; 3. Journalism and public opinion; 4. Finno-Ugric world: history, archeology, ethnology; 5. Ethnic culture and society of Finno-Ugric nations; 6. National and professional traditions in contemporary culture; 7. Economics and management: problems and prospects; 8. Ecology, public health and physical training; 9. Finno-Ugric nations: legal traditions and contemporary law. 10. Finno-Ugric nations: ethno-political processes Deadline for submission of applications is: March 15, 2007 (application form is enclosed). Applications are accepted by e-mail: ifusco2007@mail.ru and faxes: +7(8342) 47-60-87, +7(8342) 24-79-51 (with a note: IFUSCO-2007) ==> Non Russian citizens are required to enclose a passport xerocopy to their applications. Should you apply for a Russian visa, make sure that: o Your passport is valid for at least 6 months before the visa expiry date; o Period of processing and issuing a single-entry visa requires 20 - 30 working days; o Visa invitation letter is directed to the RF Embassy in the country of applicant or a Consular section indicated by you in the application form. The organizers will inform you about the number and date of the letter quotable to retrieve your visa. ==> Deadline for submission of abstracts of papers is April the 1st, 2007 (only via e-mail ifusco2007@mail.ru). The volume of abstracts should exceed 2000 symbols, only in RTF Microsoft Word file format, type - 14, line interval - 1,5. Participation fee: € 90 for foreign participants and € 35 - for citizens of the Russian Federation. Payment is accepted in roubles (according to the exchange rate of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation upon the date of payment). Fees can be paid on May 15th, 2007 at the accounts department of the Mordovia State University (building No 18, Proletarskaya St., 61, ground floor). Articles written on the basis of presentations at the conference are planned to be published. Requirements to the articles: Volume - up to 5 pages in text format Microsoft Word, type - Times New Roman Cyr, type size - 14, line interval - 1,5. Page Setup: left - 3cm, right - 1,5 cm, top - 2,5 cm, bottom - 2 cm. The organizing committee of the XXIII International Scientific Student Conference of Finno-Ugric Studies IFUSCO 2007 invites representatives of countries and regions to submit the statement of purpose to have your city or university as a next venue for the XXIV International Scientific Student Conference of Finno-Ugric studies. Such projects can be designed and submitted in the form of electronic presentations or usual reports by the end of IFUSCO 2007 to the e-mail address mafun@mail.ru. The decision about the place and dates of the next IFUSCO conference will be made on the basis of presented applications at the session of the YAFUP/MAFUN Board, May 19th, 2007.
